VHCB AmeriCorps Position Request

Thank you for your interest in partnering with the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps).  Please read the following information regarding the application process to host a VHCB AmeriCorps member.

The Application for VHCB AmeriCorps*State Sponsorship is your organization’s opportunity to request the number and type of member slots you would like to host for the 2012-13 program year.  All organizations that would like to host a member are required to submit the application in full (including existing sponsors).  Applications are due at the VHCB AmeriCorps office by no later than April 13th, 2012.

Please return the application with a position description for each proposed position (you must use the electronic Position Description Template).  Late applications and those received without position descriptions cannot be considered.

Prior to completing the application, review each of the following documents:

IMPORTANT: Your organization may request as many positions as it would be able to support.  If you request more than one, rank which ones are of preference.  If more than one position is awarded, it may not be awarded in order of preference. Proposed member positions should contribute to at least two of our Performance Goals numbers 1 - 8, one of those being Volunteer Mobilization.

As you consider the member position, please refer to the Data Collection Instrument Packet(s) that correlate with the position focus area (e.g. Housing Placement, Land Stewarded).  Note the definitions of terms (e.g. who qualifies as 'economically disadvantaged') and data collection requirements. In the application, we ask you to provide an approximation of impact numbers (see question #2 on application).  For example, approximately 175 economically disadvantaged individuals will receive housing placement services through this position.  You will also need to include the tools your member will use to collect information on their impact (e.g. pre/post tests, attendance logs, surveys).

The Site Selection Guidelines is available for your reference, which is what we use for partner assessments and the member slot allotment process.  Each year we receive significantly more requests for partnership than we have capacity.  We give very careful consideration to where slots are allotted.  During this process, we may be in contact with you regarding clarification or areas of concern. You can expect to be notified of your request status by mid-May.  If your organization is awarded a slot, you should be prepared to begin recruiting no later than late May.  Upon award notification, you will receive information about the recruitment process.  If your organization is not awarded a slot but it meets all the eligibility criteria, it may be possible to place your organization to our Wait List in the case a slot opens up at a later date.

The upcoming program year will begin September 17, 2012 and will end August 16, 2013.  More information about member benefits will be included in the recruitment information to be distributed after organizations have been notified about their sponsorship status.
