Discount Initiative Program
The Discount Initiative is calling upon businesses and organizations of Vermont to honor citizens who serve as AmeriCorps Members by offering small discounts to goods and services.
Service members have committed themselves to an honorable experience that may result in some financial hardships. Members serve for an 11- to 12-month period, earning a living allowance set at or slightly below minimum wage. Service individuals come from varying personal and professional backgrounds, but they all strive for one common goal: to serve your community for the betterment of all it’s inhabitants.
Here in Vermont, at least one member may be found in every county, serving in various forms:
- Mentor and/or tutor low-income youth
- Provide housing services to the homeless
- Restore the environment through stewardship & education
- Educate the community on Energy Efficient practices
- Create healthy initiatives for schools and communities
- Recruit & Manage Volunteers
- Provide services to Military & National Guard individuals and families … and many more.
At this time, few locations offer discounts on services, such as the YMCA and Bolton Valley Ski Resort; the YMCA has cut the cost of a monthly gym membership in half, $15/month! Such small luxuries are not easily affordable to AmeriCorps members. We are hoping to build a discount program with similar discounts as students, senior citizens, or Veterans. That is why we are hoping to include as many Vermont businesses as possible and provide just a little more for the unsung service heroes of our community!
Be part of something big; be part of something that will serve your community: Enroll Today!
Please read and complete the forms found below. And, thank you in advance for your participation.
