Vermont's Lead Paint Law
Beginning in 1997, Vermont Act 165 has required the owners of rental housing and daycare centers built before 1978 to complete certain "essential maintenance practices" to reduce the risks from lead contamination. If you rent an apartment in a property built before 1978 you should be aware of the potential dangers of lead paint. Under Vermont's Lead Paint Law (Act 165), your landlord is required to do certain things to minimize your family's exposure to lead. If you are not sure if your landlord has done everything that is required, visit Vermont Tenants, Inc.
