RESIDENT PROGRAMS COORDINATOR

Summary of Position:
Full time service opportunity for AmeriCorps member. Position works closely with BACLT Resident Services Coordinator to develop resident programs and activities as well as promote and provide supportive services for BACLT residents and prospects. Position begins Sept. 24, 2007 and runs through August 22, 2008.
Day to dat supervision is provided by the Property Manager, and in collaboration with the Director of Operations on recruitment, contract and budget issues.
Responsibilities essential to the purpose of the job:
I. Program Development
- Facilitates involvement of residents in various programs, events, and group or association meetings, through volunteer recruitment, meeting facilitation and mediation, newsletters and orientation.
- Develops, implements or sustains various activities and programs, services and education, and other items of interest to a majority of BACLT residents in BACLT neighborhoods.
- Coordinates program involvement for BACLT children, youth or adults with various organizations and agencies in Windham County, eliminating duplication of efforts/costs.
- Conducts orientation programs for residents to the communities in which they live and to the land trust organization.
- Provides supportive services to residents or rental applicants, such as household budgeting, completion of benefit or rental subsidy applications for assistance, and referral to community resources to aid in family/household crises.
- Handles information requests for rental and housing programs.
- Develops, distributes, collects, and analyzes resident data and surveys, and reports analysis via data compilation to BACLT board and management.
- Ensures that tenants receive professional support and guidance; that communications are timely and effective; that problems are dealt with positively and directly, whenever possible.
- Uses sound conflict resolution skills when assisting in the resolution of resident concerns and problems in a constructive manner.
Required Abilities
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication and mediation skills.
- Commitment to quality and service orientation.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage many tasks simultaneously, to carryout detailed assignments while maintaining and advancing the mission of BACLT.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work without direct supervision.
- Strong team skills desired as well as ability to collaborate with other organizations.
- Computer experience with Word, Excel, Windows, e-mail, desktop publishing or newsletter program.
Required Experience and Training:
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and lead programs and/or groups for children, youth, families and adults.
