Outreach Coordinator
full-time

The AmeriCorps  Outreach Coordinator is a full-time, eleven month position from September 24, 2007 through August 24, 2008 The position is funded under a grant from the Corporation for National Service to the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board (VHCB) for the VT Community Stewardship Program.

 The full time Outreach Coordinator will assist with community and client outreach; provide financial assistance and advocacy to families in housing crisis in its tri-county service area.

The Outreach Coordinator responsibilities will include:

*Provide advocacy and financial assistance to families in crisis within the Emergency Shelter Program

*Collaborate services with Peer organizations

*Data entry into NSTEP & Service point

*Attend Service Point trainings

*Attend monthly continuum of care local and state meetings

*Participate in community outreach activities such as National NeighborWorks Week

*Assist with delivery of Financial Fitness education

*Attend NWWVT and AmeriCorps sponsored training and workshops to acquire new skills and knowledge related to the field of community development

*Attend NWWVT and AmeriCorps sponsored trainings

*Update community resources handbook

*Engage community volunteers

*Participate in the VCSP Smart Glow Initiative by leading or teaming up with regional members for projects that aim to increase awareness and utilization of compact florescent lightbulbs (CFLs)

Qualifications: excellent people skills, strong desire to work closely with clients who are at high risk of homelessness, and the ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing. Computer skills helpful.

The Outreach Coordinator will be trained by NWWVT staff, will work directly with the HomeOwnership Center staff and will be supervised by the HomeOwnership Center Director or senior management.
