	Alphabetical list of Vermont's Housing and Conservation nonprofits Information about the Vermont Housing and Conservation Coalition Vermont's nonprofit housing and conservation organizations are private corporations with federal 501(c)(3) status working within Vermont communities to acquire, rehabilitate, and manage perpetually affordable housing and to conserve agricultural and recreational land, natural areas and historic properties. Nonprofit organizations rely on volunteer board members, including local business people, residents of affordable housing projects, and community members to develop projects in reponse to a community's needs. Since 1987 Vermont's housing and conservation nonprofits, municipalities and eligible state agencies have utilized Vermont Housing and Conservation Board (VHCB) grants and loans to develop more than 9,700 affordable homes and to conserve more than 376,000 acres of land. This investment has provided positive economic impact, creating jobs and leveraging an additional $800 million in private equity and loans, foundation grants, municipal support, federal funds, bargain sales, easement donations and local fundraising.
	The Vermont Housing and Conservation Coalition
Advocates for housing and conservation formed the Vermont Housing and Conservation Coalition in 1986 to establish the Vermont Housing and Conservation Trust Fund through the Vermont Legislature. The Coalition provides information in support of the Vermont Housing and Conservation Trust Fund to the general public, the Vermont Legislature, and the Administration. Individuals and organizations are invited to join the Coalition in its effort to help preserve Vermont's lands and ensure decent, affordable housing for Vermont's citizens.
