As a Community Development Specialist, you will evaluate applications for funding affordable housing and make recommendations for board action. Your ability to develop strong relationships with funders and housing developers along with prior experience in real estate development, affordable housing, architecture, construction, or project management are important assets.
VHCB awards state and federal funding for housing developments statewide serving households at a range of incomes. Learn to assess the feasibility of proposed developments, analyze development budgets, and work with applicants to ensure projects will be feasible during construction, sustainable in the long term, and consistent with state and federal housing policies.
Together with housing staff, annually monitor affordable housing developments and organizations and provide operating support and technical assistance. Help develop policy and conduct research for special projects. Respond to requests for information, assist with reports and presentations, and represent VHCB at events with non-profit organizations, community groups, municipalities, and state agencies.

This is a full-time position with comprehensive benefits. Starting salary range is $57,000 - $68,000, depending upon experience.
