Building and conserving Vermont's future.
In 2013, VHCB funding helped protect the second largest unfragmented forest block in the Taconic Range as wildlife habitat, guaranteeing public access in perpetuity. A collaboration between The Conservation Fund, Vermont Fish and Wildlife, and the Vermont Land Trust helped transfer this 2,870-acre forest block to the State as an addition to the Birdseye Wildlife Management Area. The easement guarantees dispersed public access in perpetuity for activities such as hunting, trapping, fishing, wildlife viewing, and other non-motorized, low-impact uses.
