Marquis Farm, Newport

Marc and Tiffany Marquis operate a grass-based organic dairy in the Mississquoi watershed, in a critical source area for phosphorous loading. They have protected two parcels of farmland – their 122-acre home farm, and a 124-acre cropland parcel - with VHCB and matching federal Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) –NRCS dollars focused on water quality improvements. The easements include surface water protections.  As part of the overall water quality improvement project, the Marquis’ have installed a new manure pit, barnyard and pasture watering system, working with NRCS and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets.
