Story of the Week

Sadly, people tend to destroy the structure or deface it with graffiti. So, one day me and another member of the Montpelier Parks crew went out there with a local volunteer to fix it. The volunteer was a great asset and fun to be around, he also showed me and my coworker a few pointers on making stone walls and other structures, for future reference. Not only did I learn a lot about basic stonework, but we also were working as several large groups of people walked by using the path. They were incredibly happy to see people working on fixing the stone structures and tidying the path. We were thanked profusely and chatted for a while about why the parks were important, which was a good feeling. I felt as though we made a connection with the local residents while also being an educational resource for them
